Newberry Community School (NCS) is a public conversion charter school, serving over 650 students, that will open August 2026. Our school is located in the heart of Newberry, Florida—a small town with a strong sense of community and a commitment to educational excellence. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal who will uphold our mission, empower our staff, and lead our students to success.

As the Principal of Newberry Community School, you will serve as the school’s instructional and operational leader, reporting directly to the Governing Board. You will guide the school’s strategic vision, oversee academic performance, manage personnel and resources, and cultivate a safe and supportive school culture for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all school operations and ensure alignment with NCS’s mission and vision
  • Supervise all staff, including the Assistant Principal and support personnel
  • Oversee hiring, performance management, and professional development
  • Set an ethical and moral example for staff and students
  • Implement and evaluate academic programs to promote student achievement
  • Oversee the development of the extracurricular activities program
  • Oversee and monitor student discipline
  • Manage the ordering of textbooks, materials and equipment
  • Prepare the annual school calendar for approval by the Governing Board
  • Oversee the management and planning of the school’s facilities
  • Manage the school’s transportation and food service programs
  • Develop and manage the school budget in collaboration with the Governing Board
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal education regulations
  • Implement all policies of the Governing Board with diligence
  • Supervise the preparation of accurate and timely reports and records
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners
  • Lead the development and execution of the School Improvement Plan and safety initiatives in conjunction with the School Advisory Council
  • Assume responsibility for all official correspondence and news releases in collaboration with the Governing Board
  • Represent the school at Governing Board meetings and in the local community
  • Foster a school culture grounded in integrity, inclusion, and high expectations

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited institution
  • Valid Florida Certification in Educational Leadership or Administration & Supervision
  • At least 5 years of experience in education
  • Minimum of 3 years in a school administrative leadership role

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently
