Newberry Community School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Teacher to provide high-quality instruction, foster a positive learning environment, and support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. This position requires strong instructional skills, effective classroom management, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administration to promote student success.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and a valid Florida teaching certificate for the subject and grade level assigned.

Teachers holding a valid Florida certificate outside their primary teaching assignment may be approved to teach out-of-field for one year, in accordance with Florida Course Code Directory requirements.

ESOL, ESE, and Gifted Endorsements preferred.

Strong understanding of instructional strategies, curriculum standards, and effective teaching practices.

Ability to develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that meet diverse learner needs.

Knowledge of differentiated instruction for students with varying abilities, including ESE and English Language Learners.

Ability to use technology, digital tools, and data systems to enhance instruction and monitor student progress.

Ability to create a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators.

Reports To

Supervises
Interns and practicum students, as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that address the needs of all learners.

Use a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and technologies to support student growth.

Differentiate instruction for students with diverse learning needs, including ESE and ESOL students.

Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment.
-
Set clear expectations for behavior and use appropriate interventions aligned with school policies.

Conduct regular formative and summative assessments to measure student progress.

Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, assessments, and classroom performance.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grades, attendance, and student performance.

Analyze student achievement data to identify trends, address gaps, and adjust instruction.

Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and concerns.

Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administrators to improve instructional practices and outcomes.
-
Participate in departmental meetings, professional learning communities, and school-wide initiatives.

Attend parent-teacher conferences, professional trainings, and school events as required.

Supervise students during non-classroom activities such as lunch, recess, and arrival/dismissal, as assigned.

Support extracurricular programs, field trips, clubs, or school activities as needed.

Implement and adhere to all school, Board, state, and federal policies and regulations.

Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with Florida and Federal law.

Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations.
Physical Requirements

Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. continuously to move objects or materials.

Ability to stand for extended periods and perform classroom duties requiring mobility and physical presence.
Terms of Employment

Salary and benefits established by the Board.

10-month position.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal in accordance with Board policy and established evaluation procedures.
