The Warehouse Specialist performs skilled administrative and operational work in support of the Utilities and Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory management of materials, supplies, and equipment. The Warehouse Specialist ensures accuracy, safety, and compliance with departmental and City policies, while also providing excellent customer service to internal staff. The role includes preparing reports, maintaining records, and supporting the overall efficiency of departmental operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Utilities and Public Works.

- Manage the City's warehouse and inventory control systems, ensuring proper organization, labeling, and tracking of all materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Accept, inspect, and document deliveries; verify shipments against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with vendors as needed.
- Process departmental order requests with accuracy and timeliness to ensure continuity of operations.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full inventory audits; reconcile records and prepare detailed inventory reports.
- Support departmental and City-wide audits by providing accurate documentation, reports, and data analysis.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse environment; enforce best practices for safety, storage, and housekeeping.
- Safely transport materials, supplies, and equipment to designated work areas; operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment in compliance with safety standards.
- Identify and document missing, damaged, or incorrect materials; coordinate returns or replacements with vendors.
- Prepare a variety of administrative documents, including reports, purchase orders, correspondence, and spreadsheets.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for City staff regarding warehouse requests; provide excellent customer service and ensure timely access to supplies and equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and make recommendations for reorders to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Assist in the development and implementation of warehouse policies, procedures, and operational improvements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.
- A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required; ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements/ Working & Environmental Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor working environment (50/50) with occasional travel for meetings or training.
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
- Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
- Sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time.
- Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps. Body agility is emphasized.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: manual dexterity, mental acuity, repetitive motion, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and reaching.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 85lbs. Specific vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that may be adverse and extreme (heat, humidity, cold, rain, etc.). The employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, uneven surfaces, heights, and stressful situations. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
